Between the R.B. Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies and the University of Leipzig of Germany has been signed a Memorandum of Understanding for research cooperation.

Leipzig University is one of the oldest and most famous universities and is one of the top 20 universities in Germany. Such famous figures as the poet Johann Wolfgang Goethe, the composers Robert Schumann and Richard Wagner, the philosophers Friedrich Nietzsche and Gottfried Leibniz – all had their studies at this 600-year old university.

As part of the cooperation, Milan Procik, a PhD student in history from the university, is conducting research at the Institute of Oriental Studies on his thesis “China as seen from Soviet margins”.

Scholars in Oriental Studies and Chinese Studies at the Institute provide consultancy support for Milan Protsik’s research work.
